Year 1SD visit Middleport Pottery
Year 1 SD had an amazing visit on the 4th February 2025 to Middleport Pottery.
As part of "Our Local Area" topic, we had the opportunity to visit a working factory from the 1800's. First we listened to how each piece of the famous Burleigh pottery was made by hand, a tradition that has been passed on and inherited and shared. Next we walked the heritage trail where we were able to see a working steam engine called The Dutchess, which was named by King Charles. The children were very excited to go inside the bottle oven where they asked lots of questions about what it was used for. Finally we had fun using clay to make our own bottle ovens!
