Topic Overview Autumn 2 Newsletter Term: Autumn 2
Topic: Magical Matilda

During English we will be exploring Character and setting descriptions, narrative writing and persuasive/balanced arguments. In Math we will be extending and challenging ourselves within the number topic, specifically learning how to tackle word problems, as well as the properties of shapes and fractions. As part of Geography we will be looking at lines of longitude and latitude and plotting the most significant lines. As part of our Science work we will be investigating solids, liquids and gases and how we change between the states as well as looking at the water cycle. If you have any ideas or comments to make about the topics we are covering in the Spring term it would be greatly appreciated. We really value your contributions in your child's education.

Topic: The Radical Romans

Welcome to Year 4! This half term our topic will be 'The Radical Romans'. We will be looking at two new texts in English, with a focus of newspaper and persuasive writing. In Math we will be strengthening our knowledge of place value and calculation as well as learning Roman Numerals. During the afternoon sessions, we will be creating Roman mosaic art. Additionally, we will be looking at where the Romans settled in Geography and put our research into a timeline in History. Science will see us exploring electricity and circuits. To enhance our learning and understanding of the Romans, we will be visiting the Dewa Roman Museum in Chester
